Pirates Fall 4-2 to Brewers. Dropping to under .500 AGAIN!

The Buccos squared off for game 2 of a 4 game set against the brew crew Tuesday night after a BIG deadline day. It was the Pirates first game having new pitchers Luke Weaver, Lake Bachar, and my favorite, Kirby Yates in the bullpen. The Pirates could only muster 5 hits, 2 of which were solo shots from Endy Rodriguez and Jacob Gonzalez.

Kirby Yates made his Pirates debut pitching 1 perfect inning. The 39 year old looked tired and ready to go home but nevertheless, pitched great! I personally like the Kirby Yates trade. There is something about bringing in an older guy that looks like he could do no wrong at the deadline that just brings a smile to my face. I know everyone was excited to get Luke Weaver, so was I, but he didn’t pitch yesterday so you get to hear about my Kirby Yates man crush.

Buying at the deadline was the BEST thing for the Pirates so far this season but was it too late? The team hovers around the .500 mark all season making a series loss look like the season is over. With the Pirates loss last night they drop to 57-58 and 3.5 games back of the final wild card spot. We need a winning streak, is it going to happen? Am I just impatient? Last night was just one game right? Well how long are we going to keep saying that? There are only 47 games left…
