The Browns are Gonna Browns - Deshaun Watson Named Week 1 Starter
Well, things in Cleveland continue to be a disaster as the Browns named Deshaun Watson their starting Quarterback for their week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Now, as a Steelers fan, this is incredible news to me, but as much disdain as I have for the city of Cleveland, especially the Browns, I can’t help but feel a little bit bad for their fanbase. Watson literally just talked trash on Browns’ fans over the weekend..
Watson hasn’t played more than 7 games in a season since signing with Cleveland in 2022, and his performance in those games haven’t exactly been impressive. On top of that, he’s a despicable human being. But, the Browns gave him more money than God in 2022, and seem to care more about trying to get something out of their terrible investment than they do about winning football games. Or maybe they have an ulterior motive.
Barstool Sports’ Jeff D. Lowe is probably right. Andrew Berry and Jimmy Haslam surely want Arch Manning. But, knowing how the Browns work, I see an accidental 6-win season in their future and a mediocre mid-round pick to go with it. Those wins will probably come once Deshaun inevitably gets hurt or quits on the season and Shedeur Sanders steps into his place, setting Cleveland up for another fake QB competition between Shedeur and whatever future bust they draft next year.
