College Football Playoff Expansion Talks Are Actively Ruining The Game!
Hey Penn State, this will never be you!
College football is entering the last year of the agreed upon 12 team playoff which has been—Interesting to say the least. Rumors are spreading that college football wants a 24-team playoff. This will ruin the college football and slowly turn the sport into college basketball where their product is purely based on their end of season tournament (March Madness).
As we know and love March for the chaos and upsets, we see just as many blowouts with 68 teams involved, and we have seen plenty of blowouts in college football’s 4 team format and even more with the 12-team format. Let’s be honest, no one cares to see Oregon curb stomp JMU or Ole Miss commit football homicide to Tulane in the first round. Blowouts will double and scores will get even worse with a 24-team format.
I think this sport is already ruined with NIL and completive play, so why add more imbalance to a post season? We are so far gone from traditional college football, so anything is possible at this point. Players now announce returning to their school for another season, schools have player’s payroll in the tens of millions of dollars, and the transfer portal is out of control.
I still actively love the game and I am so excited for the season and Pitt to get started, but it feels like all I can do is root for the logo because who knows where the stars of this year will be next.
The experience!!!!!!!!!
